Leadership Essentials
 
Welcome to Leadership Essentials, a module that gives volunteers the essentials needed to effectively facilitate the Girl Scout Leadership Experience. At the end of this three-hour session, participants will be able to explain the meaning of the three keys of the Leadership Experience; demonstrate how to use resources including the Journeys with accompanying Adult Guides; describe how to facilitate activities so they are girl-led, cooperative and learn-by-doing; and convey the value of being purposeful in leadership.

Leadership Essentials sessions expand on the fundamental Girl Scout Promise and Law as volunteers explore leadership resources, Girl Scout Pathways, safety in Girl Scouting, and learn how they are supported in their efforts to deliver the new Girl Scout program to our deserving girls.


Online Leadership Essentials

Leadership Essentials is now available as an online training that may fit your learning and scheduling needs better than a classroom session.  After completing the Online Leadership Essentials Registration, you will be directed to the GSUSA Online Leadership Essentials.

• This training session takes about 45 minutes to complete.  You will not be able to exit the training and return to finish at a later time as you could do in the GSUSA Online Volunteer Orientation.
•  It is recommended that you have a set of the Journey books for the grade level you will be working with when you do this training, however, the training can be completed without them.  Should you decide to use the Journey books with the online training, we recommend that you read the girl's book first.  This will assist you better with understanding the material in the adult book.

Leadership Essentials -- Classroom Sessions

Leadership Essentials is also available in classroom sessions that are held at a variety of locations throughout the council and are listed below.  You can register for a classroom session of Leaderships Essentials online by selecting the date with the corresponding location you would like to attend.  There is no fee for Leadership Essentials.

Leadership Essential classes are available in Spanish upon request.
